An interesting study was recently conducted by Bradley Corp. on Americans’ hand washing habits. With the tremendous hype surrounding the H1N1 virus, it would seem that Americans’ bathroom hygiene habits are improving. However, the study reported that 54% of respondants surveyed wash their hands no more or less frequently after using public bathrooms.
Reasons for not washing include faulty sinks, unclean wash area, crowded sink area and the feeling that they didn’t need to wash. When soap wasn’t used after washing, the primary reason given was empty soap dispensers. The study went on to report that 28% of non-handwashers did use a hand sanitizer.
